Advanced Polymer Dosing and Activation Solutions

Polymer feed systems blend liquid or dry polymers for wastewater treatment. Activated polymers bind suspended particles, improving settling and dewatering. Dry polymer systems use a high-efficiency Teflon eductor for fast hydration and reduced aging time.

The Ideal Polymer Feed System

Burt Process Equipment manufactures the PolymerPlus Activation System, a robust solution for businesses that require high-performance polymer feed systems. The PolymerPlus blends polymers using a patented, motorless, high-energy activation chamber. This polymer blending system works by activating polymer as it passes through the high turbulence that’s generated by the patented orifice. The orifice automatically opens with the 10-PSI feed, and it compensates for flow changes. System components of our polymer feed systems are constructed from corrosion-resistant thermoplastics and welded stainless steel. The Polymer Feed System exposes the polymer to maximum activation energy only once for the shortest amount of time and at the earliest point of hydration.

Polymer Feed Systems support these wastewater applications:

  • Sludge Dewatering
  • Groundwater Remediation
  • Water Clarification
  • Water Reuse
  • Water Recycle
  • Oil and Grease Removal
  • Emulsion Breaking
  • Paint Detackification
  • Coagulation and Flocculation
  • Dissolved Air Flotation

Liquid Polymer Feed System Features:

  • High Energy Hydro-Dynamic Motorless Polymer Activation. Our Motorless Hydro-Dynamic Activation system operates as a low-pressure homogenizer. The polymer is activated as it passes through the annular nozzle orifice. The pressure drop across the nozzle is only 10 psi. This accelerates the solution to a velocity of about 40 ft/sec. This very high turbulence generated at the orifice is what activates the polymer.
  • Self Compensates for Flow Fluctuations. The polymer activation chamber self compensates for flow fluctuations. It assures that the polymer activation energy levels remain constant.
  • Dual-Stage Systems combine our patented hydro-dynamic activation system with the more traditional hydro-mechanical, motor operated system.
  • Self Cleaning Sight Tube. The activated polymer solution flows through a self-cleaning sight tube before it exits the feeder. The solution flow ensures that the patented cleaning assembly operates continuously. The sight tube allows the operator to see that the feeder is operating properly.
  • Activates all types of Liquid Polymer at feed rates from 0.01 to 576 GPD.
  • Metering pump options include Solenoid Diaphragm, Peristaltic & Progressing Cavity type pump.
  • Simple by Design & Easy to Operate & Maintain.

Dry Polymer Feed System Features:

  • System Design typically requires 1-2 tanks. One for batching and one for aging to insure proper mixing for optimum performance.
  • Dry Polymer activation requires a system that is capable of effectively dispersing polymer prior to hydration and effectively wet each individual particle of the polymer.
  • The PolymerPlus Dry Polymer system incorporates a high-efficiency eductor engineered especially for difficult to handle material, such as a dry polymer. It generates high conveying airflow. The design transport velocity is 3000 ft./min. The tube is made of Teflon to prevent polymer sticking. The Teflon is translucent for quick visual inspection.
  • Auger Feed System. To prevent polymer build-up, the Polyductor suction airflow vacuums the material being fed. Variable speed gear motor controls the feed rate (up to 300lbs / hour). Dry Polymer Auger Feeder assembly is a modular system. Hopper screen/vibrator assures consistent polymer flow. Dehumidifying air heater provides low humidity air to the feeder discharge.
  • Disc Feed System. Dry Polymer Disc Feeder prevents problems associated with other dry polymer feeders. Dry Polymer Disc Feed System uses a rotating disc feeder to precisely meter the amount of polymer needed per batch. The polymer flows (up to 4800 GPH) from the hopper, through a screen onto the rotating disc. The polymer feed rate (up to 200 lbs/hour) can be modified due to adjustable disc speed. Dry Polymer Disc Feed System uses a Polyductor (high energy eductor). The Polyductor suctions, disperses, and hydrates the polymer. The suction airflow causes the polymer to enter the Polyductor wetting section with a very high velocity. This results in a finer dispersion and faster hydration. The dilution water continuously rinses the interior walls to prevent build-up.
